Matanuska Glacier Access

** UNGUIDED GLACIER ACCESS WILL NO LONGER BE AVAILABLE

Guided Glacier Tour Departures: Expected to depart hourly from 10AM to 2PM in winter, and until 5PM in summer.
Cost: Always check with the tour vendor for the current pricing
Included: Crampons for safety on the ice, Experienced Guide
Duration: 2-3 Hours
Things To Bring: Sunglasses, sunscreen, layers, waterproof hiking shoes/boots

Note: As the Summer 2021 season gets underway, a guided-only policy will go into effect and will be developed to address growing concerns about the glacier, traveler safety, visitor behavior and trash on the glacier. Please contact Glacier Tours on the Matanuska for the most up-to-date information and guided glacier tour fees, (907) 746-1696. Don't forget to ask about resident discounts or other lower fees.

If you are not experienced in glacier travel hire someone who is.
It is your responsibility to be knowledgeable in glacier travel.
It is your responsibility to exercise caution.
It is your responsibility not to expose yourself or others to risk.
Please do not litter with anything including biodegradable products
(orange peels and apple cores) these items last a long time on the glacier ice.
Please no cigarette butts on the ice.
Clean up after your dog. Droppings do not decompose on the ice.
Pack it in–pack it out please practice “leave no trace”.
